Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) has commenced works on pavers and gutters in Ward No 14 at Kharewado on
Sunday.
According to ward councillor Lavina D’Souza, the works in the ward was a long pending demand and the works, though proposed were not taken up earlier. D’Souza inaugurated the launching of works on pavers and gutters in 5 acres of her ward at an estimated cost of around Rs 50 lakh.
MMC Chairperson Kritesh Gaonkar, MMC councillors Krishna Salkar, Leo Rodrigues and Pascal D’Souza were present for the launching ceremony along with other residents of the ward.
D’Souza informed that pavers would be put up at 3 locations while gutter works would be taken up at two locations in her ward.
Speaking on the occasion, ward councillor Lavina D’Souza profusely thanked the Urban Development Minister Milind Naik and said that the works on gutters and pavers was pending since last many years.
“Though many proposals were put up, they could not be taken up earlier but it is better late then never and finally we have taken up works in my ward. The works on gutters and pavers on footpath were the long pending demand of the people which is finally met. Many more development works will be taken up soon in my ward,” said D’Souza.
MMC Chairperson Kritesh Gaonkar said that various development works are being taken in all the wards. “Many more development works are in the pipeline and would commence soon in this ward. I also thank the residents for having elected a good councillor who had taken up a lot of issues plaguing the ward and demanded that works be taken up in her ward, said Gaonkar.
“We are a pro-development council and more than anything else, our works speak volumes for us. We have been fortunate that the Urban Development Minister has given us a lot of funds for development works. The
works are being taken in almost all wards of the council simultaneously and almost every day, we are launching some or other development works in the wards,” he added.
